** update Sept 9 2017 – DIVI v3.0.71**
Here is my list of things to do when you get that Divi builder timeout message:
1. install the divi-disable-plugin-check
https://elegantmarketplace.com/downloads/fix-the-divi-builder-error/
2. add this to .htaccess
<IfModule mod_substitute.c>
SubstituteMaxLineLength 10M
</IfModule>
3. change php version – there are a couple of v7.x iterations so swapping can help
4. In cpanel php variables increase the memory_limit to 256M
5. If on siteground and using the SG Optimizer, remove the ssl info in .htaccess

This plugin fixes the issue where the Divi builder will not load due to a warning of plugin conflicts. Fully tested on all latest Divi installs that are affected by this issue. ** Does not currently work with MULTISITE installations.
I built this at the request of many in the Divi Theme Users group. A donation will help but it not mandatory and of course, if it doesn’t work for you, you will have to try something else.
Thanks for your support.
